Maintaining your stone edge grinding machine is critical for achieving precise cuts, extending machine life, and ensuring smooth daily operations in a stone processing workshop. Whether you are operating in the Middle East, Europe, or Asia, these maintenance practices will keep your machine performing at its best.
1. Refill Water Daily for Stone Processing
Stone edge grinding machines for marble, granite, or other stones rely on a circulating water tank to cool and lubricate the cutting process. After each workday, replace the water completely. Dirty water or sediment can block pipes, reduce grinding efficiency, and even damage machine components.
2. Safely Dispose of Wastewater
Always unplug the machine before replacing water. Remove the tank, pour out wastewater, and clean both the tank and the filter to remove stone dust and residue. Proper disposal ensures consistent cutting quality and prevents machine malfunctions.
3. Add Defoamer for Resin or Composite Stone Sheets
When processing resin-bound stone sheets or composites, excessive foam may form in the water tank. Spray a defoamer 7–10 times during water replacement. For heavy foaming, apply 2–3 sprays directly on bubbles and gently stir. This ensures smooth stone edging and prevents defects.
4. Clean Water Spray Nozzles
Clogged nozzles reduce water flow, which can slow down cutting and even halt operations. Remove each nozzle and use a fine needle to clear any obstruction. Clean nozzles maintain consistent cooling, which is essential for granite, marble, and other stone materials.
5. Maintain the Waterproof Cover
Stone dust accumulates on the machine’s waterproof cover during prolonged operation. If not cleaned, the dust hardens and obstructs visibility. Clean daily with a brush and water spray to keep the grinding area clear and safe.
6. Clean the Grinding Chamber
Dust from cutting can adhere to the chuck, stone holder, and chamber walls, causing scratches or water leaks. Recommended methods:
Manual Cleaning: Use a brush and water spray to clean the chamber.
Machine Cleaning Mode: Activate the internal cleaning function to flush water supply lines. Refer to the user manual for guidance.
7. Wipe the Machine Exterior
After finishing daily operations, clean the machine exterior. Dried stone dust is difficult to remove and can damage the machine’s surface. Use a soft cloth with a neutral cleaner for best results.
8. Dress the Grinding Wheel for Stone Materials
A dull diamond grinding wheel increases processing time and reduces cutting precision. Dress the wheel after approximately 1,000 stone slabs.
Manual Dressing:
Wet the dressing stone.
Turn on the machine.
Scan the stone frame, then start grinding without clamping slabs.
Once the head lowers, turn off the machine.
Press the dressing stone against the wheel 4–5 times.
Automatic Dressing Mode:
Enter the menu.
Select grinding wheel dressing mode.
Start the machine and press the dressing stone against the wheel.
9. Add Lubricating Oil
For machines where the grinding head moves along support rods, apply a small amount of watch oil periodically. This reduces friction, ensures smooth vertical movement, and prevents premature wear.
