Diamond Wire Saw Usage Recommendations

Diamond Wire Saw Operation Precautions:

1. Never initiate cutting from sharp corners or edges. If possible, such corners should be rounded off; if this is difficult to implement, the edges may be manually smoothed using the diamond wire itself.

2. The machine must not be started until the diamond wire has been manually tensioned and it has been confirmed that the wire runs smoothly without any jamming.

3. It is strictly forbidden to position one’s body within the cutting path of the diamond wire saw; doing so is extremely dangerous.

4. All necessary safety precautions—such as using wooden boards to shield the cutting area—must be implemented to ensure that no personnel remain in the immediate vicinity of the diamond wire’s working surface at any time.

5. If the diamond wire snaps during normal operation, the severed ends will recoil violently (creating a “whiplash effect”), inevitably causing deformation in the stressed sections of the wire. In such cases, the damaged wire segment must be replaced immediately; otherwise, the damaged section will fail to function properly during subsequent cutting operations and will introduce new weak points into the remainder of the wire.

6. The drive wheel, guide wheels, and the entire cutting plane must be inspected regularly and meticulously to ensure that all components remain perfectly aligned at all times. During long-distance cutting operations, even minor misalignments or deviations can severely compromise the structural integrity and cutting efficiency of the diamond wire.

7. If the dust generated during the cutting process mixes with water, it forms an abrasive slurry that accelerates wear on the diamond wire joints. Therefore, the condition of the joints must be closely monitored; they should be replaced frequently—before their cross-sectional area diminishes significantly—to prevent any reduction in their tensile strength and breaking load.

8. When starting the machine, a progressive (slow-start) method should be employed whenever possible. At the moment of startup, the motor’s instantaneous power output can surge by 40-70 horsepower (depending on the specific motor type), making it highly susceptible to exceeding its critical operational thresholds within a very short timeframe.

9. The use of diamond rope drive wheels with a diameter of less than 500-600 mm should be avoided. Such small-diameter drive wheels must under no circumstances be used for prolonged operations; if, due to exceptional circumstances, their use is truly unavoidable, their diameter must be at least 800 mm.
