Generally speaking, diamond wire saws have high cutting speeds. During the sawing process, the pressure exerted by the individual diamond grains on the stone is very small, insufficient to cause volumetric fragmentation. The primary rock fragmentation method is Hertzian crushing, primarily achieved through high-speed grinding, resulting in fine chip size.

Based on the rock-crushing mechanism of diamond wire, wire tension should be appropriately controlled during sawing, a certain wire speed should be maintained, and wear-resistant diamonds and a matrix should be selected to ensure proper cooling. This will increase cutting speed and extend the life of the diamond wire.
