Diamond grinding wheel is a tool for grinding hard and brittle materials such as stone, glass, ceramics, gemstones, etc. Metal bond diamond grinding wheels are mainly divided into sintering and electroplating according to different manufacturing methods; so how should the grinding wheel be maintained in normal times?
1. If the diamond grinding wheel is not used immediately, it should be placed flat or hung using the inner hole. Other items cannot be stacked or stepped on on the flat saw blade, and attention should be paid to moisture and rust prevention.
2. When the diamond grinding wheel is no longer sharp and the cutting surface is rough, it should be re-grinded in time. Grinding cannot change the original viewpoint and destroy the dynamic balance.
3. The inner diameter correction and positioning hole processing of the diamond grinding wheel must be carried out by the factory. If the processing is poor, it will affect the product application effect and may cause risks. In principle, the hole expansion cannot exceed 20mm of the original hole diameter to avoid affecting the stress balance.
4. Selection of grinding wheels
1) Resin-bonded diamond grinding wheels have weak bonding strength, so they have good self-sharpening function during grinding, are not easy to clog, have high grinding power, low grinding force, and low grinding temperature. The disadvantages are poor wear resistance, large tool loss, and are not suitable for heavy-load grinding.
2) Ceramic-bonded diamond grinding wheels have better wear resistance and bonding ability than resin-bonded ones, sharp cutting, high grinding power, not easy to heat up and clog, small thermal expansion, and easy to control precision. The disadvantages are rough grinding surface and high cost.
3) Metal-bonded diamond grinding wheels have high bonding strength, good wear resistance, small wear, long life, low grinding cost, and can withstand large loads, but poor sharpness and easy to clog.
4) Abrasive particle size has a certain influence on grinding wheel clogging and cutting volume. Compared with fine sand particles, coarse sand particles have a large cutting depth and large abrasive edge wear. Conversely, the grinding wheel is easy to clog.
5) The hardness of the grinding wheel has a greater impact on clogging. The higher the hardness of the grinding wheel, the greater the thermal conductivity, which is not conducive to surface heat dissipation, but is conducive to improving processing accuracy and durability.
6) The selection of grinding wheel concentration is an important characteristic, which has a great impact on grinding power and processing cost. Too low concentration affects power, and vice versa, abrasive particles are easy to fall off, but the binder concentration range is also good.
